Permanent Make-Up

Permanent Make-Up is an innovative and revolutionary artistic technique. Also known as Micropigmentation or Cosmetic tattoo, Permanent Makeup consists of implanting natural pigments (vegetable and mineral extracts) under the superficial layers of the skin, between the dermis and the epidermis by means of a small, sterile, micro-needle, to create a lasting cosmetic effect. We create an illusion or enhancement where hair or color is missing (as in eyebrows, eyeliner, lip liner and color . These hypo-allergenic pigments are specifically designed for facial application, and contain no added fragrances or emollients.

Who would benefit from Permanent Make-Up?

  • Women who want to save time each day
  • Have sparse, platinum, or half eyebrows
  • Have sparse lashes
  • Wear contact lenses
  • Have visual limitations
  • Are allergic to cosmetics
  • Have unsteady or arthritic hands
  • Want the convenience of makeup that won’t smear
  • Are fashion conscious
  • Want to look their best in the professional world

Many individuals choose to undergo tattooing in its various forms. For some, it is an aesthetic choice or an initiation rite. Some choose permanent make-up as a time saver or because they have physical difficulty applying regular make-up. For others, tattooing is an adjunct to reconstructive surgery, particularly of the face of breast, to simulate natural pigmentation. People who have lost their eyebrows due to alopecia (a form of hair loss) may choose to have "eyebrows" tattooed on, while people with vitilago (a lack of pigmentation in areas of the skin) may try tattooing to help camouflage the condition.

How long does it last?

It can last between 1-5 years. However, it varies according to your skin type, the treated area, and the colour chosen. The darker the colour, the longer it lasts. Immediately after the treatment, the colour appears dark; within 4-10 days after the procedure, the colour gets between 30 to 50% lighter. Ultra-violate exposure from sun or tanning booths, various drugs, excessively dry skin, and smoking are all factors that may affect the colour. It is essential that a sunblock be applied over the permanent makeup area at any time that you are exposed to the sun or a tanning bed to prolong the effective life of these procedures.

Is there any discomfort?

Topical anesthetics are used to numb the area and minimize discomfort. Most people describe a mild, gentle, plucking sensation or no feeling at all. The results and years of looking great more than justify the slight discomfort of the short treatment.

How do I select the best permanent makeup artist?

Art is a talent with which one is born, not a craft for which one trains. The result of a procedure will be as good as the artist you choose. Check his/ her training, certifications, experience, liability insurance, and most of all, before and after pictures. Ask for references from previous clients. Remember: cheaper doesn’t mean better.

Are there risks?

There are risks in having a non-professional Micropigmenation Artist perform these procedures. At THE LASER CLINIC we use all sterile equipment at all times. As all hygiene conditions are met by Health Canada infection rate is extremly low.
